Applying for the Canadian Express Entry

The Express Entry selection system is the fastest way to move to Canada as a permanent resident. It’s not surprising that many immigrants worldwide take this route to enter the country than other means.

Applications for permanent residency that are submitted through Express Entry often take around six months. This flexible method keeps gaining popularity than before. The importance of the Canadian Express Entry system can’t be underscored.

What is the Express Entry?

The Canadian Express Entry selection system was implemented on January 2015. It is used for processing applications that are sent via the federal economic immigration programs.

The highest-ranking candidates will be invited by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CAC). This is to make them enroll for the expedited Canadian Immigration. Some of the factors that are usually considered at this stage include education, skills, language abilities and work experience.

Getting a provincial nomination or valid job offer can increase your Express Entry scores. You need to meet all the requirements if you want to partake in the Canadian Express Entry immigration system.

How Express Entry works

There are currently three types of the federal economic immigration program. Each applicant must meet the requirements of at least one of the federal programs below to have access to the express entry pool.

  • The Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
  • The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • The Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC)

Answering some questions can help you to ascertain whether you’re eligible or not. The requirements for each immigration program varies. Here are some of the areas where you will need to prepare answers:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Language ability
  • Nationality
  • Family members
  • Work experience

Your answers will determine the program you will be qualified for to a large extent.

Prepare your documents

Make sure that you’ve prepared the correct documents before starting the application process. These documents include the educational credential assessment (ECA) and language result test. They should be sent to any of the recognized agencies early enough.

Submit Your Profile

Express Entry pool relies on a point-based system. A profile will be assigned to you where you’re expected to provide correct personal information. Creating an impressive profile will increase your chances of being invited.
